about

Hi I'm Kate Warwick-Smith. Welcome to my Offroads website.

Along with my career as a psychotherapist, I like to teach courses on topics that hold a special interest for me.

  • VISUAL JOURNALING. As a Certified SoulPage Facilitator, I've joined my training and experience as a psychotherapist with the art journaling page where students discover that growth and change can be fun. Check out: The Secret Garden of Your Inner Artist: Activating the Realm of the Imaginal
  • TAROT. I have a long standing interest in Western esotericism with a special interest in divination. During my many years of dream analysis I became fascinated by the deep inner voice that held a different perspective about my life. Divination and the tarot are other ways--aside from dreams--to let the numinous have a say.
  • Myth and Fairy Tale. In the course Story Healing: Me and Little Red Riding Hood I explore how personal and collective narratives can resonate and ultimately nurture one another. As I like to say, we all have stories that need healing, and so does Little Red Riding Hood.
Outside of work, I like to garden, renovate the homestead, read, and play with my grandson. I live in Sonoma with my husband and chickens.

I have a BA degree from the University of California, Berkeley and an MA degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California (2000). In 2017 I received a PhD in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. My Dissertation (link below) received the Dissertation Award of Excellence.

In 2003 I wrote The Tarot Court Cards: Archetypal Patterns of Relationship in the Minor Arcana (published by Inner Traditions). You can also check out my 2017 dissertation,  Remembering Prudence: Tracking the Iconography of a Cardinal Virtue (Proquest). And, if you don't wan't to read all of that :), here is a link to a more succinct article published in the Journal of Jungian Scholarly Studies: Tracking Prudence: What an Iconographic Trail Reveals about Western Culture and its Pathology (2020).
